Protect Your Heart with Martial Arts

A taekwondo class is interval training that does not feel like interval training. Drills push heart rate up, technique work brings it back down, and the cycle repeats for the length of the class.

The consistency matters more than the intensity. People keep showing up to something they find interesting, and cardiovascular health responds to years of attendance, not weeks of enthusiasm.

Add strength work through kicking and stance holds, plus the stress reduction of an hour of full attention, and the training earns its place in a heart-healthy routine.

As always, check with your physician before beginning a new exercise program.
